Karthigai Vadai Preparation Menu

Karthigai festival is celebrated in India in month of november as a symbol of celebrating lord karthigeya swami's birthday. Scientifically litting gingely oil lamps, ghee lamps promotes rainfall. Whatever be it, this is perfect time to celebrate this festival with sweets and savories. Vadai the lentil patties are typically prepared with a specified menu pattern particularly in this festival time.
Ingredients Needed:
Soak 1 cup of all the following dhal for 3 hours - urad dhal, toor shal, channa dhal
Soak 1/4 cup of moong dhal separately. Note that this will not be ground with the above mentioned mixture. This needs to be addded as whole at the end of batter preparation
Curry leaves - 1 strand
Red chillies - 10
Asafoetida - as needed
Salt - as needed
Ginger - small pieces to prevent gastric
Method of Preparation:
1) Grind the mixture well. add salt, asafoetida, ginger pieces. Don't add too much water. Make sure the batter is in thick consisteny
2) Add moong dhal, curry leaves to the mixture
3) Heat oil in maximum flame. Make sure it smokes well
4) Bring this to sim flame
5) Add vadai patties and fry well
