Moru Kachiyathu - Yoghurt Dish From Kerala
Ingredients Needed :
Yoghurt - 2 cups
Water - 1cup
Chopped Ginger - 1 tsp
Chopped Garlic - 1tsp
Shallots (sliced) - 6 or 7 nos
Green Chilli - 2
Curry leaves -as needed
Chilli powder - 1tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek powder - 1 pinch
Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
Mustard -1/2 tsp
Oil - as needed
Salt - as needed
Method Of Preparation :
1) Belnd yoghurt, with water an turmeric. Mix well
2) Heat oil in a pan and add mustard. Allow it to sputter. Add sliced shallots and saute it for 1 to 2 minutes
3) Add green chilli, chopped ginger, chopped garlic
4) Mix well and saute it for 2 minutes
5) Add chilli powder, fenugeekpowder, turmeric powder,, cumin powder
6) Fry the ingredients in low flame till the raw smell goes off
7) Add curry leaves
8) In a low flame, add the youhurt blend into the pan
9) Mix well. Switch off as it turns hot. It is approximately 1/2 minute to 1 minute (in low flame. Be careful. If not it will spoil the dish)
This can be served with rice
