Tindora the most popular dish in south India also called the dondakkai is a great side dish. I wanted to try a main course out of this interesting vegetable. There came the interesting idea of dondakai (or) Tindora thugaiyal
Ingredients Needed
Tindora/dondakkai - fried in oil - 1cup
Urad dhal - 1 cup
jeera - 2tsp
Tamarind - syrup by mixing with water
salt as needed
oil - as needed
green chillies - 5 (or) 7 as needed
Method of preparation
1) Deep fry tindora/dondakkai
2) Heat oil, add urad dhal, jeera, green chillies, asafoetida and mix well
3) Allow the ingredients to cool
4) Grind tindora and urad dhal mixture and tamarind
Finally decorate with corriander and serve hot along with hot rice. this forms the best main course. It can also be used as a sidedish alongside chapathi
