Puran poli popularly called as bobatlu in South India is a famous sweet roti/sweet chapathi made of besan dhal (channa dhal).
Ingredients Needed :
Channa Dhal - 1 cup
Jaggery - as needed
Cardamom powder (grind a packet of cardamom with 2tsp of sugar in a mixer grinder to get the best cardamom powder) - as needed
Oil - as needed
Salt - Pinch
Coconut powder - as needed
Sooji - 1/2 tsp
Rice flour - 1/4 cup
Maida/All purpose flour - 2 cup
Method Of Preparation :
1) Pressure cook channa dhal. Allow it to cool and drain it in a paper towel. Grind it in a mixie
2) Heat a pan in low flame. Pour the channa dhal. Add Jaggery, coconut powder, Mix well. Now the puran/pooram to be stuffed inside the roti/poli is ready. Sprinkle some cardamom powder
3) Mix maida, sooji, rice flour, pinch of salt with some oil and water. Mix well once the mixture gets consistency of stretching like rotis. If possible start preparation after 15 to 30 minutes
4) In a plastic sheet, apply some oil.
5) Pooram size double that of roti (outer layer). Place pooram inside roti.
6) Using the plastic sheet create rotis by applying finger pressure
7) Now heat pan in high flame. Apply oil. Toast the poli.
These polis can be served hot.
