Tomato Kuzhambu/Thakali Kuzhambu - Chettinad Style Kuzhambu/kulambu is a hot , spicy, yummy dish that can be well served with hot rice.
Ingredients :
kasa-kasa - 1tsp
Sombu/Perungeeragam/fennel seeds - 1tsp
Geeragam - 1tsp
Black pepper/mizhagu - 10
Salt - as needed
Oil - as needed
Water - as needed
Tomato - 6 pieces
Small onions/chinna vengayam - 18
Malli Thalai/corriander seeds - 2 tsp
Red Chillies - 10
Cashewnuts/munthiri paruppu - 10
Coconut flakes - 2 cups
Method Of Preparation :
1) Fry cashewnut, kasa-kasa, corriander seeds/mallithalai, coconut flakes, red chillies, black pepper, geeragam and add salt.
2) Grind the fried mixture
3) Boil the tomatoes and smash it
4) Heat the oil in a pan and fry mustard, perungeeragam/fennel seeds, small onions.
5) Add tomatoes and salt
6) Boil the mixture for a while
7) Add the grinded mixture
8) Pour some water and allow to boil it for a while
This can be served hot as kuzhambu with rice.
Best Side Dish : Fried potatoes, chips
