Puligore Rice/ Puliyodharai Rice/ Tamarind Rice - Traditional South Indian Variety Rice is an essential item in amny get togethers, picnics, marriages etc.
Ingredients Needed :
Tamarind/puli - Smashes with water - 2 cup
Red chillies - 6
Salt - as needed
Oil - 1 tsp
Black pepper - 5
Vendhayam/fenugeek seeds - 1/2tsp
Rice (boiled rice) - 1 cup
kadalai paruppu/channa dhal - 1tsp
peanuts/ground nuts - 1 cup
Method Of Preparation :
1) Heat oil and fry red chillies. Add tamarind paste and add salt and allow the mixture to solidify
2) Fry fenugeek seeds along with pepper and grind the mixture well
3) Add the misture to the rice and add the tamarind mixture as well
4) Fry the peanuts and channa dhal and add to the rice
5) Mix well and serve hot
Can be better served with curd raita (curd pachiddi)
Note : It is better to use gingely oil/nalennai for frying purposes.
