Its been a while since I've eaten rasam and wanted to make something fresh that is a rasam but with lentils. I ended up preparing tomato thoor dhal lentil rasam (pepper water) and here is the interesting menu
Ingredients Needed :
Tamarind - size of lemon - soak in water and mix it so well . Make sure it is compeltely mixed in water
Tomato - 1 or 2 as needed
Salt - as needed
Ghee - 1/2 tsp for garnishing with mustard at the end
mustard - as needed
Sambhar powder - 1 tsp
Rasam powder - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - as needed
Salt - as needed
Method of Preparation :
1) In tamarind water, add cut tomatoes, curry leaves, salt, asafoetida, sambhar powder and mix well
2) Pressure cook 1 cup of thoor dhal and make this available
3) Boil the tamarind water for 2 minutes
4) Add lentil, rasam powder , corriander and make it boil
5) Switch off as soon as it starts boiling
6) Let mustard splutter in ghee and mix to this water
Serve hot as a main course with rice
