It is a basic concept to start with the nature of 9 different planets before looking into details on effect of different planets in different houses, different rasis. Planet nature is broadly divided into 3 major categories :
1) Satvik - Jupiter, Mercury - Most auspicious. These planets are always good natured.
2) Rajasik - Ravi, Chandra/Moon,Sukra.They are best friends of satvik. They are partly good and partly bad
3) Tamsik - Sani/Saturn, Rahu,Kethu,Mars/Kuja. These are friends of satviks. They are totally bad. Some planets like kuja are friends of Rajasik. Friendship among different planets will be a different topic of discussion.
