Orissa biri cake recipe explained in detail

Biri cake is an interesting recipe from orissa the eastern part of India. This is popular among bangladesh as well. This is primarily made with urad dhal and sometimes called urad dhal biri cake in Orissa
Ingredients Needed :
Whole urad dhal - 1 cup
Plain rice - 1/2 cup. This is also called as raw rice. Make sure the rice is not boiled or para boiled
Sugar - 1 cup
Jaggery - 1/2 cup
Coconut grating - 1 cup
Cut coconut pieces - 1/2 cup
Baking soda - as needed
Nuts including almonds (badam), cashews, raisins in dried format for decoration purpose
Elachi in powdered form for flavoring
Biri cake Recipe preparation method:
1) Uradh dhal and rice must be soaked separately. Both of them must be soaked for 1 hour minimum to start with
2) Grind urad dhal to thick consistency in grinder without adding much water
3) Grind rice to thick consistency in grinder
4) Mix thick urad dhal, rice in a bowl add sugar powder and jaggery pieces to this. Add coconut to this mixture that is in semi-solid consistency
5) Add elachi powder to this paste
6) Add baking soda to this mixture
5) In microwave oven, microwave in high temperature for about 5 minutes
6) In case of pressure cooker add 2 tumblers of water boil them. Reduce flame, pressure cook this mixture for 15 minutes
Once done, add the dried fruits to this and serve hot
