PMP Learner should know about projects

As a PMP aspirant if you wish to start preparing for your pmp certification the first criteria that is essentially important even before looking at exam pre-requisites is the need to understand what a PROJECT actually means? Lets take a simple example of a project. If we want to pay the taxes here is what we need to do 1) Collect all the taxation forms 2) Collect tax documents form investments 3) Collect taxation forms from institutions like banks 4) Contact CPA 5) Schedule an appointment 6) Prepare taxes, review tax documents, pay taxes 7) Validate and verify tax amount as been credited or deducted onto our bank account Above mentioned steps represents a simple project. From PMBOK the project management body of knowledge considered bible for project managers, the standard from PMI here is what a project actually means 1) Project is a temporary endeavour - Filing taxes is a temporary endeavour 2) Project creates product, service, result - We resulted in paying taxes following rules of land 3) Impact of project is tangible or intangible - Paying taxes has created intangible effect of exhibiting our moral values, social responsibility 4) Projects can have social, economical, environmental impact - We paid taxes and this will showcase our social responsibility as a honest citizen Understand that projects are temporary set of actions that includes knowledge, skills, tools to produce an outcome which can be product, result or service.
